Usually there are several dozen applications installed on our smartphones. Sometimes their number reaches a hundred. However, not all programs are constantly necessary for us. Some are used only occasionally, or even never run at all. It turns out that they only waste space in memory and consume system resources.

PWA (Progressive Web Apps) are web applications that run in your browser and work in much the same way as regular programs. They know how to show notifications, work offline when necessary, save data locally and look no different from native apps. You can even place an icon of such an application on the desktop for quick launch. However, PWAs do not require installation and do not waste megabytes of flash memory.

PWA is a very handy thing. They were appreciated not only by users, but also by developers, so there are more and more such programs. And now they have their own directory called Appscope. It contains all existing web applications, including light versions of Uber, Instagram, Google Maps, Twitter, Duolingo, and more.

Simply go to Appscope in your mobile browser, select the application you are interested in and click on the Launch app button. After starting the program, you can add its shortcut to the desktop using the command in the browser menu.

Alternatively, you can use the Appscope website itself as a mobile app. As a reminder, Progressive Web Apps work exactly the same on Android and iOS devices.
