I want to warn you right away that not every supermarket deceives its customers. I would like to believe that there are stores that are ready to work honestly and within the framework of the law. Also, not every item in this article is suitable for the supermarket where you shop, or even for your country. Certain tricks are used in supermarkets in Russia, tricks of a different kind can be used in supermarkets in Ukraine, and so on.

I will not mention legislation in this article, because in different countries it differs from each other. But I advise you to familiarize yourself with the consumer rights in your country. This will serve as a good shield and sometimes a sword in the fight against dishonest sellers.

Read the labels on the packages

The first rule of supermarkets is to carefully read the labels on the packaging. If the package has a sticker that is completely sealed with another one, most likely, they want to deceive you. Of course, the option is not excluded that the price of the product has changed, but perhaps the store employees have artificially increased the shelf life of the product.

Very often expired goods end up on the shelves. This is especially true for semi-finished products and milk. I would not advise buying meat and dairy products that have a long shelf life. It is possible to preserve the properties of such a product only if all conditions are met: you need a certain room and a certain storage temperature. And where are the guarantees that supermarket employees adhere to these rules?

A good product is a fresh product.

Don't buy cooking

Many supermarkets have a cooking department. Usually there is a kitchen that prepares various cuts, salads and dishes. I think it's no secret to anyone that for such blanks, products are often used that are about to deteriorate or, even worse, whose shelf life has already expired.

It is also a big question how these products are prepared. Are they using clean knives and regularly washing and wiping tables and cutting boards. Missing food can be the source of many different diseases. Staphylococci, streptococci, gonococci, Escherichia coli. If you don't want to meet these cute creatures, then you should avoid visiting the culinary department in the supermarket.

Don't get fooled by promotions

Supermarkets love to lure their customers with promotions. They are even ready to spend some money on advertising brochures that end up in your mailboxes or right in your hands near the entrance to the subway and just in crowded places. Cucumbers are 20% cheaper, three kilograms of potatoes for the price of two, sausage is half the price. All this undoubtedly attracts our attention, and we go to this supermarket to.

Stock products should be treated with great caution.

Once again, we carefully read the information on the packages, check the shelf life, production dates and appearance of the products. If the product only has a factory sticker, you can relax a little. Violations by factories are much less common than by owners and employees of supermarkets.

Don't buy slices

I do not recommend buying cuts of sausages and cheeses in supermarkets. Expired products often end up there, as well as in cooking. 50-100 grams of cheese at 100 rubles per kilogram can "accidentally" get into a cheese cut at 500 rubles per kilogram. And you will only notice this at home when you open the package and get to the middle of the cut.

Pay attention to the appearance of goods

Take a good look at the goods. If the chicken has frozen stains, chances are it was thawed and then frozen again. This procedure does not bring anything useful.

Sausage sticks, especially smoked ones, tend to shrink. That is, for a certain time, the sausage simply becomes smaller. The sticker may indicate the permissible percentage of shrinkage. But I still advise you to weigh the sausage again. This can save you a couple of dozen rubles.

Expensive goods are placed at the level of your eyes, cheaper ones - lower or higher.

Items that are nearing the end of their shelf life are placed as close to the edge of the shelf as possible. Fresh goods are placed as close to the back of shelves and refrigerators as possible.

Make purchases. In supermarkets, there is a reason to place important departments as far apart as possible. Indeed, on the way from the bread department to the milk, you will come across many more products that you do not need, but which supermarkets will gladly sell you.

When you receive your check, try to remember the prices on the price tags and compare them with those on the check.

If they differ, contact the cashier. Keep a close eye on the number of items punched. Three yoghurts can easily turn into four.

Be attentive, keep an eye on price tags, stickers and the appearance of goods. Do not take spoiled, broken or wrinkled food. This can save not only your wallet, but also your life.
