What is mind?

Everyone wants to be considered an intelligent person. And we start with the most important question. What is mind and how does it manifest itself?

Man differs from animals in that he has intelligence. Intelligence is the ability to achieve a goal through self-change. In other words, when you want to achieve something or dream of getting something, your intellect works. Intelligence determines how realistic your desires are and what needs to be done to fulfill them.

If the desire is easy to fulfill, for example, you are thirsty, and there is a glass of water next to it, then you take the glass and drink. You don't need a mind for this. You also don't need a mind when you brush your teeth, dress, close the door, and do any other stereotypical act.

The mind is needed if any difficulties arise. For example, you want to go to your home and suddenly find that you have forgotten the key, then the mind turns on here. Or you want to buy something, but there is not enough money - the mind turns on again.

The mind is part of the intelligence that is needed to solve problems.

For the mind to work, certain conditions are required, which we will talk about in detail below. But first, let's talk about a common mistake that most people make. When someone who remembers a lot of things is called an intelligent person, and therefore solves crosswords well or wins all sorts of quizzes.

People with good memories may or may not be smart. Mind is the ability to solve problems. But not educational tasks that are solved at school, but real tasks. Those that are found in everyday life.

To understand whether you are a smart person or not, you need to remember the first rule:

The result of the work of the intellect is a change in the material world.

This means that it doesn't matter how much information you remember or what school problems you know how to solve. It does not matter. The only thing that matters is how you live.

You are an intelligent person if you can provide yourself with a decent life:

  • you are cheerful and energetic;
  • eat and rest normally;
  • monitor your health;
  • have a good relationship with others;
  • you are surrounded by working equipment and so on.

Therefore, if you decide to develop your mental abilities, then there is a very simple criterion to determine whether you succeed or not.

If your material opportunities begin to grow. That is, you actually produce something, increase your income, occupy a higher position, acquire new things, travel to new places, make new friends. This means that you are really getting smarter.

But often people, just by understanding something, believe that they have become smarter. For example, if you just read this book and understand it, you won’t get any smarter. The mind is determined by your behavior.

How to quickly tell clever behavior from stupid one?

Let's take the simplest case. A man in the cold. For humans, a comfortable ambient temperature is about 24 degrees. If the temperature starts to drop, then he becomes uncomfortable. If it gets very cold, then you can freeze.

So, the task of the mind is that as soon as the temperature began to decrease, something needs to be done. Reading books and watching TV may be good, but they won't help you keep warm. The mind manifests itself the moment a person encounters a problem.

An intelligent person starts doing something to raise the temperature. There are many options, but they are all related to material actions:

  • close a window;
  • dress warmly;
  • turn on the heater;
  • make a bonfire;
  • go to a warm place.

Moreover, in this situation, the mind is easy to measure in degrees. Celsius. The lower the temperature, the more intelligence you need to survive.

In the movie "Office Romance" the song "Nature has no bad weather" sounds. This is right. There is no bad weather, there is inappropriate clothing. The mind determines exactly what kind of clothing is needed. If they are frozen, they are to blame.

The colder it is, the more seriously you need to think. If you are an astronaut, your mind will have to cope with zero Kelvin when you go into outer space. To do this, at least you need to put on a spacesuit.

You can, of course, scream with all your might: "Oh, frost, frost, don't freeze me …" - and jump into open space. But asking for frost for anything is not a sign of intelligence. For children, requests to Santa Claus are quite natural, but for adults and smart people no longer.

Therefore, an intelligent person can only be called the one as a result of whose actions a material result appears. Otherwise, there is no mind.

If you only read smart books and try to reason smartly, then you do not have any mental development. You are deceiving yourself.

Moreover, a general biological law begins to work: if an organ is not trained, then it atrophies. Therefore, if you do not train your muscles, then they become flaccid and flabby. It is the same with your mind: if you do not develop it, then you become stupid.

You can check if you are not stupid using this criterion in the same way. That is, if for some reason your level of health, joy from life, income level and so on decreases, then you began to become stupid.

Complaints about external circumstances are an indirect sign of stupidity. For example, if you have less money and you are complaining about a crisis. This is a clear sign of stupidity, because the mind just turns on when some problem arises. A crisis is a problem, so you need to turn on your mind to figure out how to make money in a crisis.

It is very easy to assess your mind. Take a look around you:

Everything that surrounds you is a reflection of your mind.

How smart do you need to be?

The question arises, how smart you need to be. The more difficult your life is, the smarter you should be. In general, how difficult is life?

I might upset you, but life is really hard. This is why you have the mind to solve life's problems. If you solve them weakly or do not solve them at all, then your mind is not developed.

Now I will please you. The mind, like any organ in the body, can be developed. Therefore, if something in your life is not going well right now, then it is quite possible to develop your mind and improve your life. How to do it?

A chance for the development of the mind is given by some life problem. The problem itself does not say anything about your mind. For example, if you get fired, you cannot tell if you are smart or not. Because you just have some difficult situation. The reason may not depend on you in any way: crisis, the company went bankrupt, staff reduction, and so on.

But after a while, you can already accurately assess your mind by the results that you received. If you find a job with the same or higher income level, then your mind is fine.

If you found a less good job or did not find any, then this indicates that you have a weak mind.

Everything in nature is directed towards growth and development. It's the same with the mind. A person wants to feel something new in himself every day, to grow spiritually, to conquer new heights. Life problems help with this. The more problems you have in life, the faster your mind will develop.

Developing mental faculties is natural, easy, and enjoyable. You just need to really look at yourself and understand whether you are getting smarter or not.

You are fine if:

  • You feel that your life is subject to the steering wheel, and that steering wheel is in your hands. When you want - you step on the gas, when you want - you stop and rest on the grass.
  • You can have your own opinion and even say it calmly. And you don't really care if others have a different opinion. You absolutely do not need to urgently convince a mistaken comrade. A group of comrades. All mistaken comrades.
  • There are no people in your life whose presence you have to endure. And if they do appear, then very quickly you drop them off at the nearest stop. After all, you are not on the way with them.
  • You know that at any moment you can turn off the road and even go in the opposite direction if you want. You are not particularly interested in the opinion of others about your route, and you will not listen to it for a long time.

Summarize:

If you have a material result, then you are an intelligent person. If you have no material result, then you are a foolish person.

Hence the consequence:

In order to develop mental abilities, you need to increase the material result of your actions.

And now I answer the main question: how do you get smart? There is only one way. Since the mind is for solving life's problems, to train the mind you must begin solve your life problems.

I emphasize, the problems of YOUR life. Not educational tasks, not fictitious problems, not questions from the football team, but their own life problems. The ones you encounter every day.

This is a complete analogy with muscle training. How to develop biceps? Give a load to the biceps. How to develop the mind? Give a load to the mind.
