About the hazy future of SMM, remote work and education that may not come in handy.
“I don't like it when the importance of my work is exaggerated. This is all easy and pointless entertainment"
Tell us about your work: what are you doing now, what projects, what are you doing for them?
- Now I continue to represent PornHub in Russia: work with the community, the press, the authorities, if necessary. The main job is the agency Fancy Shot, in which we have four friends. We shoot cool commercials and clips. Together we come up with awesome ideas and implement them.
How long does it take you to create a post and search for a news feed?
- It never takes more than 10 minutes to create a post, searching for news feeds is an ongoing activity, but here it is important to understand that I am not looking for anything. You don't need to look for a real news lead, if there is one - you will definitely find out about it.
And for all other questions regarding PornHub here, in Russia, they only contact you?
- Yes, they write to me on all questions.
Do you agree on anything with the management?
- I have not needed to coordinate anything with anyone for a long time and, I hope, will never be needed again.
Tell us about Fancy Shot. What exactly are you doing there?
- The four of us (this is the entire agency) are shooting cool videos. We have a common responsibility - not to do shit like what 99% of the market does.
Can you name your favorite commercial or video?
- We haven't removed the coolest one yet.
What do you love about your job?
- In my work I love it when everyone laughs or freaks out. I don't like it when the importance of my work is exaggerated. This is all easy and pointless entertainment.
What do you consider to be your main achievement in your work?
- I have no idea. I try not to think about that. I don't like everything that has already been done.
And the site that you quickly created in response to the blocking of PornHub is not cool?
- Everything that was before is no longer cool.
And as for the PornHub community: after all, the indicators have changed after you joined?
- Yes, we have grown from 20 thousand to 180 thousand without any investment.
What difficulties do you face and how do you solve them?
- The difficulties are the same as for everyone: apathy, existential horror, addictions. I don’t solve them in any way, because I don’t see the point in it.
Can you add a little background: what did you do before Aviasales and PornHub? And how did you end up in marketing?
- Before that, I worked as a CD salesman, designer, copywriter, handyman, worked at an oil refinery and a concrete plant. This is from what I remember. And with marketing, it somehow worked out by itself.
What do you think about the present and future of SMM?
- The present for SMM is stagnation. And his future is vague. Hopefully someone will do something about this (but not me).
Everything I know I owe to Google.com
You studied to be a teacher of Russian language and literature. Do you think you need an academic education at all?
- Yes, the first year at the university, and that was enough to understand: the education system is the bottom. I didn't need an education, but I also have a fake profession. I think that surgeons, for example, cannot go anywhere without an academic education.
Then where did you learn what you can?
“I owe everything I know to Google.com.
Let's move on to your workplace. What does it look like?
- I never stay in one place for a long time and prefer to move between cities and countries. Thank God I no longer have an office. The entire workspace is a laptop, phone, headphones and head. Social networks, Telegram, Spotify, mail, Google - these are all the services you need. I took down Slack with great pleasure when I left Aviasales.
And this is how my workplace looks like. I have no other, since I am constantly moving.
Do you think everyone can work remotely without losing efficiency? Can you do it? Are there any secrets?
- I succeed because I feel uncomfortable sitting in one place. Someone is comfortable in the invented cult of jackets, Moscow City towers and business lunches with colleagues. May God grant them health.
What about time management? Making plans for the future?
- I'm not making any plans. And if you do not have goals, then you don’t have to think in what form to set them for yourself.;)
How do you spend your free time?
- I watch movies and drink.
