These simple pita breads resemble quesadillas, but instead of tortilla, they use the more common pita bread, and the filling is chicken fillet in a hearty alfredo sauce. Great breakfast dish: laid out the filling, wrapped, fried and done.
Ingredients
For cakes
- 5 pita bread;
- ½ chicken fillet;
- 150 g grated cheese;
- cilantro, jalapeno pepper, sauce - for serving.
For the sauce
- 240 ml heavy cream;
- 2 tablespoons of butter;
- 150 g grated cheese;
- ½ teaspoon dried garlic;
- 2 tablespoons of cilantro greens.
Preparation
Chicken fillet can be boiled, baked or fried until cooked. You can also use leftover meat from a past meal, and for a vegetarian version of the dish, make a filling with legumes and your favorite vegetables.
The sauce is ridiculously simple to prepare. Pour a glass of heavy cream to the melted butter, wait until they begin to boil, and add cheese. While stirring, melt the cheese completely, and then add the dried garlic and cilantro. Add salt to taste.
Let the sauce cool, then combine with the cooked chicken pieces.
Put some hard cheese on half of the pita bread, spread the chicken filling with sauce and sprinkle with cheese on top. Fold the flatbread in half, pressing down slightly to evenly distribute the filling inside and hold the halves of the pita bread together.
Fry the cakes in a little vegetable oil until they are browned on both sides (about a minute).
Serve the finished dish sprinkled with cilantro, jalapenos and your favorite sauce.
