The Dusk mobile app for iOS comes in handy when you have something to say but don't want to be recognized. In it, you can start a stream or record a podcast without revealing your face and voice.
Anonymity on the Internet is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it makes it possible to speak out without fear of persecution from government agencies. This also includes cases when a person wants to pour out his heart on the topic, for example, domestic violence, but is not ready to do it openly. On the other hand, anonymity equips base people who turn into troll-hunters behind the electronic screen.
Therefore, it is still difficult to imagine what the young Dusk app will become as it grows up: an arena for difficult conversations or a booth for dirty talk. Although it should be noted that the creators promise a total purge of insults and bullying. But it's too early to judge, because Dusk is going through the early days of Periscope: streamers are learning functionality and are not broadcasting anything intelligible. For the most part, there is nothing to watch, especially since the picture is divided into pixels, and the voice is changed to match the robot.
You don't need an email address or phone number to register with Dusk. Instead, you give yourself a name and assign a PIN. You can change them in the application settings.
The Dusk start screen contains a list of live streams, as well as their recordings. The number of views and likes will give a rough guideline whether or not to look at VOD at all.
Inside each stream there is a chat where anyone can post comments. At the same time, the streamer retains the right to block user statements, and so that they do not know about it. What's more, Dusk filters recognize impartial keyword comments and can remove them without warning. However, it is too early to judge how effective all this is - there are too few people sitting there.
And those who do are mainly discussing Trump and political events in the United States. Sections "Startups", "Religion", "Relationships" and others are still waiting for explosive speakers. At the same time, the first popular streamers appear on Dusk. There are no Russian speakers among them, so you can try to be the first.
The creators of Dusk are not chasing money or thinking about monetization. They advocate social change and support a tool that empowers people to express their sincere opinions about everything. A person does not have to worry about his privacy: the video stream is encrypted on a mobile device and goes to the Internet absolutely secure. At the same time, viewers see a picture of hundreds of pixels and hear a rude male voice - it is impossible to identify the speaker.
