You probably know that our beloved service IFTTT recently received a big update and three great new apps for iOS and Android. In this article, you will find several practical examples of their use.
If you have never heard of the online service IFTTT, then we inform you that this is the best way to automate your routine actions performed on the Web or on mobile devices. It allows you to associate events on different network services with actions on your mobile device, and vice versa.
These links, which are called recipes in the terminology of the service, are triggered automatically when an event you have defined occurs. But in the latest update, IFTTT departed from this postulate and allowed us to create user-run recipes on our own. Below you will find nine such recipes that vividly illustrate the possibilities of new applications from IFTTT.
Do Button
Recording location and time into a table
There are many situations where you might need to keep track of your time in a location. For example, in this way you can mark the time of training in the gym or the duration of walks in the park. In any case, now you can do this with one touch of the application shortcut on the desktop.
Early arrival warning
How many anecdotes have been invented about situations related to the unexpected return of a husband home! Now you will never find yourself in such a stupid position, because this recipe allows you to warn in advance about your imminent return home.
Tracking your movements
This recipe allows you to receive an email every week containing a list of the places you have visited. All you need to do is mark each new location by clicking on the Do app button.
Do camera
Adding Photos to Evernote
After pressing the button for this recipe, a picture will be taken with the smartphone camera, and then saved as a new entry in Evernote.
Sending a photo to a computer
One tap on the button of this recipe will allow your smartphone to instantly take a picture and send it to your desktop computer. Very useful if you need to scan several documents and save them to your desktop hard drive.
Post photos to a separate album on Facebook
If you want to publish certain images in a separate limited-access album, then this recipe will help you do just that. You can, for example, make an album for family photos that you don't want to show to all your friends on the social network.
Do note
Quick blog post
With this recipe, you will be able to instantly publish your blog posts. You just need to type the text of the note and click on the button of the Do Note application, which will fulfill this recipe. Besides WordPress, you can customize it to work with Blogger, Tumblr, and other platforms.
Create a weekly digest of new ideas
This recipe is useful to all people who often and unexpectedly come up with brilliant ideas. You can save them with Do Note and then receive an email once a week listing all your great thoughts. Now you can choose the best ones at a convenient time.
Making a shopping list
There are dozens of different mobile programs for leaving shopping lists, but none of them do it in the form of a Google Drive spreadsheet. If you want, you can use this recipe not only for shopping, but in general for compiling any lists.
Have you already used any recipes for new applications of the IFTTT service? Or maybe they even created their own? Share them in the comments!
