In recent months, we all lack travel and new countries. If the longing for beautiful sunsets, the sound of the surf and sandy beaches swept over with special force, it's time to join a little road adventure for a couple of hours. Albeit cinematic.

1. Eat, Pray, Love

Remember how in your youth you dreamed of visiting hundreds of countries, conquering a couple of mountain peaks and trying yourself as a writer? And now you are over 30. Strong marriage, good job, big house, but all this is not at all happy. It was in this situation that the heroine of the film Elizabeth found herself. One day she realizes that she is not living her own life and wants to break out of the annoying routine. What follows is a difficult divorce and a long road in search of yourself.

Elizabeth goes to Italy to learn how to enjoy food there, not be shy about her emotions and enjoy every day. In India, the heroine comes to live in a temple, where she hopes to regain faith. And she does it, though not through prayers, but with the help of the people with whom Elizabeth encountered there. And finally, in Indonesia, she finds inner harmony and true love.

2. Into the wild

On the way to the hero, there are people with difficult fates and often sad stories. But each of them gives Christopher a lesson. The end point of the route is Alaska. In the wild desert forests, the guy finds an abandoned bus, in which he remains to live.

3. Train to Darjeeling. Desperate Travelers

Three grown-up brothers, dissimilar and disliking each other. Colorful, lively, somewhat ridiculous, funny and dangerous India. And all this in one train. The result is a funny, ironic and kind film.

4. Midnight in Paris

It is enough to look at the director's name to understand that hopeless romantics will definitely like the film. This is exactly what Woody Allen makes all the heroes of his films. And up-and-coming writer Gil is no exception.

Together with the bride, he comes to Paris for the holidays. Walking along the sunlit streets, he imagines how great it was here in the distant 20s. Gil is convinced that he should have been born in that "golden age", but by an absurd coincidence, he was born almost a century later. Suddenly the hero finds himself in the past, in those very 20s. He meets Picasso, Hemingway, Gertrude Stein and a dozen more talented representatives of that time. Gil is so mesmerized that he is ready to stay in the past forever. True, reality turns out to be stronger, but in the end everything ends well.

5. Roman holidays

The young princess Anne arrives on a working visit to Rome. Business meetings, official receptions, negotiations - not a minute to rest. But the desire to see the Eternal City live, and not from the windows of boring offices, wins, and Anna escapes. And then - the classics. The girl falls asleep on a bench, late at night a handsome journalist finds her there, with whom she will spend the whole next day. Together with the heroes, the viewer walks through the main attractions of Rome and sees the city through their eyes.

Audrey Hepburn received an Oscar for this role. This is her first major work on the big screen. We recommend watching a movie in the most romantic atmosphere.

6. Under the Tuscan sun

Frances is looking for her own way: first she learns to relax, then to work hard. The girl is surrounded by good people who become a source of inspiration for her. Well, romance was also not without: the heroine eventually finds her love.

7. Hotel "Marigold": the best of the exotic

The company, I must say, got together interesting. A married couple who was almost robbed by their own daughter, a widow with her husband's debts, an elderly lady in an active search, a prim housekeeper from England, a womanizer without seduction skills and a gay who lives someone else's life.

The destinies of the heroes end up intertwined in the most unexpected ways. And the atmosphere of hot India is generously spiced up by English humor. The result is a cheerful and sometimes sad comedy.

8. Route 60

The film tells about the fact that you need to be wary of your desires: they can really come true. Young Neil Oliver graduated from high school. His prosperous future has already been mapped out by his wealthy parents. The guy does not know if he needs such a life, and does not want to dispose of it himself. During this difficult period, the hero meets O. J. Grant. This is not a leprechaun, not a genie, but he also knows how to fulfill wishes. True, he often interprets them in his own way.

Grant invites Neal to go on a journey along the mysterious Route 60, which is not on any map. The hero agrees, but does not yet know what a strange trip awaits him.

9. Haven't played in the box yet

Two men find themselves in the same hospital ward. Both have oncology, both have less than a year to live. This is where their similarities end. Edward Cole is a wealthy and successful businessman who puts work above everything, including his own daughter. Carter Chambers is a polymath auto mechanic, an exemplary husband and family man.

Friends unfortunately decide to spend the rest of their lives as rich as possible and make a list of things they want to do before the disease takes over. There is a parachute jump, and a kiss with the most beautiful girl, and a trip around the world. It is this vish-list that changes heroes beyond recognition.

10. Green Book

The events unfold in the 1960s, when racial discrimination in America was still very relevant. Talented African-American pianist Don Shirley takes on the driver's seat of a former bouncer, rude, uneducated Tony, nicknamed Chatterbox, not devoid of racial prejudice. Together, this couple will go on a big tour of the southern states of America, where Don is not loved by either white or black. An unusual journey will change the opinion of the heroes not only about each other, but also about life in general.

The film won an Oscar for Best Film in 2019. This is really one of the highest quality road movies in recent years.
