Runner Exercise: Strengthening Your Arms

Today we'll talk about the part of the body that gets very little attention, while the legs get all the glory. These are the hands. Yes, yes, we often devote the least time to our hands, since we believe that practically nothing depends on them in running. However, this misconception may be the culprit in the fact that you still have not improved your results to the desired ones. Maybe, instead of setting aside an extra hour for jogging, you should give it to your hands?

Working on your arms, shoulders, and back increases muscle strength and corrects your posture, which in turn improves breathing and hand work as you run. It is the work of the hands that is the factor X in running, which moves your body forward, helps maintain the basic rhythm and cadence.

Physiologist, trainer and co-owner of the Endurance Works in Boulder, Colorado, Christa Schultz has developed a special set of exercises that helps to develop strength and endurance in the upper body, including the arms. Schultz advises doing two sets of exercises one through two for warm-ups, followed by two sets of exercises four and five two to three times a week.

All the exercises shown in the video are performed 10-20 times each, depending on your physical condition.

We also want to offer you other videos with special exercises that will help strengthen your arms and improve your running performance.

We offer this option exclusively to boys. For really strong arms, it is difficult to find exercises without additional weight, but in this case, we suggest that you remember that it is already spring on the street and, most likely, there are still horizontal bars in your or nearest yard.;)
