Matt Groening invented The Simpsons way back in 1987. Two years later, the first full-fledged season started, and in just a couple of years the yellow-skinned family became a real mirror of American life. The events taking place in the small town of Springfield are always relevant, and viewers can see themselves in many of the characters.

But once a year, the authors of the series allow themselves to forget about logic and realism and simply entertain the viewer with horror stories on Halloween. These stories are called the Treehouse of Horror. In them, heroes can turn into witches and zombies, move in time and meet aliens, end up in hell, or even become three-dimensional. And all this does not affect further events in the series.

You can watch Halloween episodes even if you are not too familiar with the main plot of The Simpsons. Each episode is just a collection of three funny horror stories, often with references to classic films or books. And over time, even the screensaver of these episodes became a separate small story.

1. Treehouse of Horror
