What are hidden masks
In addition to standard masks for stories, Instagram can also use hidden masks, which are not in the general set. Almost everyone has the opportunity to create their own mask today. Designers, artists and bloggers from all over the world actively use this feature and share their filters with other users of the social network for free.
How to find and add hidden masks
There are three ways to find and add new masks.
- Subscribe to the author of the mask so that the filters created by him appear with you. They will become available in the general list with standard masks when creating a new story. Swipe your finger across the screen from left to right, or click on the camera icon in the upper left corner. Then select the smiley icon to display all the available options.
- If an Instagram user uses a custom mask, the clickable name of the filter and its creator is displayed at the top of their story. You can go to the profile of the author of the mask directly from the current story.
- If you go to the profile of the creator of the mask and update it, the line "Open mask" will be displayed on the page below.

The Hole in the Head mask creates the effect of a through hole in the metal head. The hole shows the background behind the head, so it looks pretty realistic. In April, the creator of the filter posted an update on his Instagram page. The Live mode is now available, which will track background changes: useful if you want to shoot a video with this filter. If you blink, you can change the color of the metal to silver, gold, rose gold, and others.
