If you are "asked": advice to the dismissed
If you are "asked": advice to the dismissed

Now there are many who have been "asked." They are different. But most often they are ambitious and very intelligent young women or men - either victims of corporate wars, or careerists, whose goals diverged from those of their bosses, and ambitions did not allow doing what you do not believe in, or simply victims of a crisis when companies shrink and die. …

They are very similar in the first months after being fired:

  • The first weeks are euphoria about what will happen next.
  • From the third week of the month two or three - deep depression about "I'm a loser."
  • Then for two or three months - realizing what happened and looking for a new job.

If you understood past mistakes and, most importantly, realized what was next, then next - going to work within six months. If he didn’t understand and didn’t realize, then he will have several walk-through jobs a year, a bad reputation in the market, internal fatigue and the effect of a downed pilot.

What to do if you are “asked” and there is no new job?

Think only of yourself. Not about former colleagues, subordinates, past conflicts - everyone will sort it out themselves. Your task is to leave with the maximum parachute for you and start a new life. For this, it is very important not to participate in those intrigues and coalitions that have been left behind. This is no longer your war.

Do not feed the green cockroach: now I will leave, and everything will die. Will not die. There are no businesses that die from the dismissal of even a very tough mercenary. You are not a creator, you are a mercenary. As long as you feed this cockroach, you do not think about the future. And not thinking about the future is destructive for you: you have already lost the past.

Do not think in terms of "I lost", "I am a loser." Even if you lost, this is a reason to analyze and move on. As long as you are alive, you are not a failure.

This is just one small step in your life. If you think like that, a new step may not take place: no one likes to tinker with someone else's depression. And employers don't pay for it.

Do not rush to the first job you come across. It is important to find, if not a dream job, then at least the next step. And in order to find it, you need to understand what you are looking for next and choose consciously.

Analyze your past mistakes with a calm head, looking at the situation from the outside, and understand what you never want again. Only after understanding, look for your job.

Relax. Definitely on vacation. You cannot jump straight from a painful past into a bright future. The head must be cleaned of cockroaches. Better to rest than to drink stupidly in a Moscow apartment.:)

In the first six months, do not take employees from the former company. Remember, this is bad for your reputation. And secondly, you haven't figured out your new job yet. You are calling people not yet into reality, but into your illusions.

Don't come back. Never. If you are called back to your old job, from where you “asked” (and not left yourself), then don't. The second time it will be the same: you will be fired again, only faster and more humiliating.

Understand, people don't change. If your boss once realized that he could not work with you, then he can forget it without you, but on the third day of mutual existence he will remember.
