How to attack and defend

In Mortal Kombat 11, short chains of standard attacks, as well as the ability to use ranged attacks and jumps, are of great importance.

The four standard attacks, as before, are tied to the buttons on the right side of the controller. If you block too often, the enemy can take advantage of this and grab you. The same is available to you: press L1 or LB on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, respectively, while standing next to your opponent. So you will first inflict a lot of damage on him, and then also throw him aside. Enemy capture can be interrupted by quickly pressing one of the hit buttons on the right side of the controller.

How to deal more damage

There are several techniques that can help you turn the tide in your favor. They are especially useful if you are fighting a strong player.

Fatal blows

Such attacks only appeared in Mortal Kombat 11. They are available when you have less than 30% health remaining. You can use them once per round. If the opponent does not block the killing blow, then you will deprive him of about a quarter of his health.

Empowered attacks

Each fighter has several hits, which are enhanced by the attack energy bar at the bottom of the screen. Press R1 on PlayStation 4 or RB on Xbox One during a specific attack - which one you can find out on the hit list screen. For example, thanks to its famous combination with a spear, Scorpio makes consistent powerful blows, and the opponent does not even have time to react.

Environment attacks

Each location has objects that you can interact with. They are usually located in the background or at the edge of the arena. With the help of some, it will be possible to quickly jump to the middle of the location, while others allow you to make a crushing attack. If you spot a sword, chainsaw, or other seemingly dangerous object, stand next to it. Press R1 or RB to use it as a disposable weapon. The enemy can also block and interrupt such attacks.

Air attacks

Jumping punches, especially kicks, deal massive damage. To knock your opponent back, jump forward and press the circle on the PlayStation 4 or B on the Xbox One. But there is also an anti-aircraft attack: it protects from the opponent's blows from above and at the same time deprives him of part of his health. To do it, use the combination "down + triangle" or "down + Y".

How to commit a fatality

Particularly brutal finishing moves from the new part of Mortal Kombat have not gone anywhere. Fatalities can be performed in story and other game modes if you win the match. For each character, such techniques look and are performed differently.

The available fatalities can be viewed in the list of techniques. First, you will have access to one, the simplest finishing move. Next to the name of the fatality, it is indicated at what distance from the enemy - close, medium or long - you need to hit. Then it remains only to exit the menu, press the buttons in the specified sequence and watch the bloody spectacle.

Which modes to try first

There are many different modes in the project. Below is a list of those that are best to choose at the beginning of the game, while you are not too familiar with it yet.

Education

Even if you know the series like the back of your hand, learning in Mortal Kombat 11 will be useful anyway. It will take you about five hours to complete the storyline. During its course, you will play as a variety of heroes and fight with many opponents. This will help you understand which characters are best suited to your playstyle. When the credits roll on the screen, you will just be ready for battles with real players.

How the equipment works

Mortal Kombat 11 boasts an extensive character customization system. Thanks to her, you can create the perfect version of your favorite character. Some stats are purely cosmetic, while others affect combat behavior.

On the character customization screen, you will find the "Abilities" section. You can remove skills that you don't like. Replace them with ones that suit your playing style. Some abilities take up more than one cell, so choose wisely.

In addition to the costume, three items of equipment are available for each hero. Usually this is one headgear and two weapons that you can upgrade. The more often one or another item is used in battle, the more slots for its improvement will appear.

Some items are unlocked in the story campaign and the "Tower of Time" mode. But to unlock all the equipment, you have to go to the Crypt. This is a large location where you can move freely and get objects out of chests.

The chests contain not only equipment, but also additional finishing techniques. To open the drawer, you need standard coins that are easy to earn. But some chests can only be unlocked with hearts, which are given for completing fatalities.

The crypt is full of mysteries that block the way to new zones. This location is a great way to relax if you are tired of the intense battles.
