Today, around midnight, SpaceX launched a Falcon Heavy rocket from Cape Canaveral, which sent Elon Musk's cherry Tesla Roadster into outer space. Behind the wheel of an open-top electric car sits a dummy named Starman, and the legendary David Bowie song Space Oddity sounds in the cabin.
The company broadcasted the historic launch live, which was watched by over two million people. The full version of the nearly five-hour stream is now available on YouTube. It was the first flight of a SpaceX heavy launch vehicle, specially designed to deliver cargo to Mars.
The launch was successful, and both boosters returned to Earth, but the central accelerator crashed, damaging the landing platform in the ocean. He used up all the fuel, overclocking the Tesla Roadster too much, and now the electric car will not fly between Earth and Mars, as planned, but in the asteroid belt behind the Red Planet.
