The most important thing for a street photographer is always to show respect to people. However, there are a few more rules to keep in mind.
1. Use the pre-focusing method
Very often the people whom Eduardo noticed and wants to photograph just sit or stand, doing nothing interesting. He advises to first focus the camera on the person and wait for him to notice you.
You can walk in front of him, make some noise, wave your hands, and so on. Eduardo calls this "making a scene." Thus, you will attract the attention of a person, and he will show his emotions.
2. Catch people's mood
If you want to capture the state of a person, take a photo of him discreetly. Sometimes it's better not to disturb him, but just take a photo and leave. Otherwise, you can miss the moment, then the picture will turn out to be staged.
3. Know how to wait
Find something interesting and stay there for a while. You can catch an interesting shot. Therefore, in this case, it is very important to learn to wait, not paying attention to passers-by in the frame.
If a person is absorbed in his work and you see that you are indifferent to him, then you have nowhere to rush. Get ready, find the angle you want, and enjoy the moment.
4. Add some trickery
If the person notices you and walks away, just pretend that someone else is in your lens. You will have time to take a picture without causing discomfort to the person. You shouldn't interfere with people.
5. Talk to strangers
Talk to those you find interesting, who grab your attention. Tell us why you want to take a photo with them. Try to explain what makes them unique. If someone looks cool, why not give that person a sincere compliment?
6. Take advantage of the awkward situation
Eduardo says that sometimes the situation gets ridiculous. The photographer and the person in the frame know they've been spotted, but both continue to look unperturbed. If you are noticed, do not smile stupidly and immediately run away. Take a photo, smile and thank the person.
7. Maintain contact with people
If people themselves make contact and find out the details from you, talk to them. Tell us about your idea and choice of composition. Be friendly, then people will respond in kind.
