No one will argue that a sense of humor makes life much easier. But there are things and problems, laughing at which will only make matters worse. Let's take a look at this issue.
Psychologists and simple observations have long said that laughter is given to us to reduce pain and fear. I remember as a young child I attended the funeral of my younger cousin. With another cousin, we laughed incessantly. I remember exactly that it was not fun for me, but I could not do anything with laughter.
Scientists say that in this way my childish brain coped with something terrible, eerie and incomprehensible, letting the concept of death into my life.
But this protective mechanism does not always work for our benefit. For example, when we humor about drunkenness and alcoholism, our subconscious mind perceives this phenomenon not as scary and dangerous as it really is. On the contrary, we begin to unconsciously perceive it as funny and amusing.
Of course, for those who have faced this misfortune in their lives, such stories will hardly seem ridiculous. But others, and especially young people, will be reckless about alcohol. Of course, these jokes are not the main reason, but, without a doubt, they play a significant role in the formation of a positive image of alcohol. And I am sure that this is not our only problem, where stupid humor played an important role.
On the other hand, there are "problems" that can use a dose of healthy and good humor to reduce their "seriousness." One of these disasters is usually accompanied by the phrase “I have nothing to wear!” Uttered with genuine tragedy in front of a wardrobe full of clean and tidy clothes.
Whether we like it or not, everything that we watch, listen to, read, wear and speak influences our way of thinking and our attitude. Humor is no exception, and it can become a good helper in the "tuning" of the subconscious we need.
Of course, what is sacred, serious or requires a reverent attitude, and what is far-fetched and exaggerated, everyone decides for himself. And this does not exclude respect for the values of another person.
In any case, it's nice to know that such a pleasant and fun phenomenon as humor, if handled correctly, can help us build ourselves and society. Let your sense of humor be that way.
