How to sleep in hot weather if you don't have air conditioning

1. Open the bedroom door

To keep the room cool, air circulation is needed. Therefore, before going to bed, open the door to your bedroom. You can also turn on the fan. This will keep air moving and prevent sweat from accumulating.

2. Do not eat heavy foods

What we eat during the day also affects the quality of our sleep. Therefore, on especially hot days, it is better not to overeat and choose light food so that the body does not have to intensively digest what has been eaten and generate additional energy.

3. Keep sheets or duvet cover in the freezer

A towel, a bottle of water, and a soft toy for children are also suitable. The point is to cool the place where you will sleep. For example, lightly dampen a sheet or duvet cover, wring it out and put it briefly in the freezer. The fabric should be cool and slightly damp, but not enough to wet the mattress.

4. Take a cool shower

To sleep well, you need to lower your core body temperature. To do this, take a long cool shower or bath. In the process, you will also get rid of the sweat and fat accumulated during the day, and this will allow your skin to breathe better.

5. Drink cold drinks an hour before bed

Like a cold shower, iced drinks can help lower your core temperature. Just don't drink alcohol or caffeinated beverages - they will disrupt sleep.

6. Sleep without clothes

This will make it easier for the body to cool down. If you can't sleep without everything, choose 100% cotton clothes. This fabric allows the skin to breathe and wicks moisture away from it.
