Netflix has been producing so many TV series lately that it has to close some shows. This does not mean at all that these projects are bad - it is just that the company has a place to spend money. Here are 10 TV shows worth watching even though they've been canceled.

Hemlock Grove

• Horror, thriller, detective.

A schoolgirl is killed in a town in the US state of Pennsylvania. The suspect is a gypsy guy who is believed to be a werewolf. Together with the owner of the building, near which the corpse was found, he begins to look for the real killer, trying to prove his innocence.

The series received mixed reviews, but gathered an army of fans. The cast includes Blacklist Famke Janssen and Bill Skarsgård, who played Pennywise the clown in It.

Annealing

• Musical, drama, music.

The show talks about the early days of hip-hop and disco. We observe events through the eyes of teenagers from the Bronx. The only season is, as it were, divided into two parts, the action of the second of them unfolds a year after the end of the sixth episode.

Baz Luhrmann, the screenwriter for The Moulin Rouge and The Great Gatsby, was one of the creators of The Burnout. Other advantages of the series include a high-quality melodramatic plot and excellent camera work.

Seven seconds

A white-skinned police officer accidentally runs over a 15-year-old African American in his car. When colleagues arrive at the scene, they decide it is a racially motivated crime. They convince the officer to hide.

The author of the project, Vin Sood, was inspired by the true story of Brenton Butler, a teenager arrested for a murder he did not commit. It is believed that the confession was knocked out of him with the help of violence.

Eighth Sense

The series tells about eight strangers from different parts of the planet who find themselves emotionally connected with each other by a certain psychic force. They get the opportunity to see each other at any time and communicate with each other. But there are those who see their abilities as a threat.

The Eighth Sense was created by Lana and Lilly Wachowski, famous for The Matrix and Cloud Atlas. Considerable attention in the show is paid to the problems of politics, religion, love and sexual minorities.

The news of the project's cancellation caused so much outrage among fans that Netflix gave up and released another long episode to end the story.

Marco Polo

Events unfold in China in the XIII century. The great Italian traveler is still very young. He contacts the Mongol Khan Kublai and finds himself in the midst of the confrontation between the two empires.

Netflix spent a lot of money on Marco Polo but ended up canceling it anyway. Probably, the audience was scared off by the rather slow pace of events. But the show is worth watching if only because it tells about an era that is often overlooked.

Unyielding Kimmy Schmidt

The plot of the series revolves around a 29-year-old girl who was imprisoned by a sectarian for 15 years. When she is free, she has to adjust to a normal life.

"Unbending Kimmy Schmidt" is not a drama at all, as you might think from the description, but a witty comedy with an incredibly funny main character.

It sucks

Time of action - the end of the last century, when young people knew almost nothing about smartphones and the Internet. Teens from the same school team up to make a film about how they live. Everything starts not going according to plan, and the guys have to cope with the emerging difficulties with the good old methods.

The project cannot boast of an original idea, but it has a good selection of actors. It is the various characters that keep you from leaving the screen.

Explosive thing

American stand-up comedian Maria Bamford plays a slightly altered version of herself. The heroine tries to recover from bipolar disorder when her mood swings become so severe that they are out of the ordinary.

The "explosive thing" is another example of a mismatch between the description and the genre. This is a good comedy, which, however, will make you not only laugh, but also think about mental health problems.

Murder

A dark crime drama based on the Danish TV series of the same name, only the action has been moved to Seattle. The body of a girl is found in the car of a candidate for mayor. The events are shown from three perspectives: the suspect, the police, and the victim's family.

It's not really a Netflix project: the series was originally aired by AMC. But after the cancellation, the popular video service decided to buy out "Murder" and shoot the fourth season to make the story complete.

Lillehammer

A middle-aged American mobster testifies against his boss. Under the witness protection program, he is sent to the Norwegian city of Lillehammer. The hero dreams of a quiet life, but realizes that one cannot just escape from the past.

The series is a great mix of crime drama and black comedy. The premiere took place on a major Norwegian channel, the first episode was watched by a fifth of the country's population. Netflix then bought the exclusive rights to show Lillehammer in North America.
