To enable two-factor authentication, your device must be running at least iOS 9. The steps required may vary slightly depending on the version of the mobile operating system.
If you are using iOS 10.3 or higher, then go to settings, click on your name and select "Password and Security". This will enable you to enable additional protection: the system will send a text message with a code every time you try to log in.
If you have iOS 10.2 or earlier, you can find two-factor authentication under iCloud → Apple ID → Password & Security.
