Despite the fact that Apple has been equipping its flagships with Face ID for several years, there are still many smartphones in use with the good old Touch ID. They support iOS 12 and remain relevant.

By default, only five different fingerprints can be added to unlock. But there is one little-known trick to increase their number to ten. Its essence is to write two prints into each of the available slots at once. Here's how to do it.

1. Go to Settings → Touch ID & Passcode and enter your PIN.

2. Remove all prints by opening each one in turn and pressing the corresponding button.

4. Then, when iOS asks you to take the device comfortably, attach and scan your left thumb.

5. Repeat the procedure for all other fingers.

As a result, you can unlock your iPhone, use Apple Pay, fill out passwords and install apps by tapping Touch ID with any of ten fingers.

In theory, registering two fingerprints in one slot can reduce the recognition accuracy. After all, each of them is specially recorded twice in different positions in order to exclude scanning errors. But in practice, everything works fine.

If any problems do arise, you can simply adjust the thumb as expected, and add the others two to each of the remaining four slots. As a result, there will be nine prints, and the accuracy will not be affected in any way.
