The loudest news of this week, and maybe even of the month, is of course the launch of the social network Google+. Despite the fact that the connection to it is still carried out by invitation only, enough people have already received invites, including thanks to our blog. Judging by the first reviews, the impression from Google+ is very positive, the product turned out to be interesting. Today we want to present a brief overview of some interesting features of this social network that will help you get better at it.

1. If you prefer to use hotkeys in your work, you can use the "j" key to move down through the records and "k" to move up. If you want to add a comment, just press Enter and you can start writing.

2. When writing messages, you can apply some formatting elements. For example, if you highlight a word * with asterisks *, then it will be written in bold, and if _under dash_, then italicized.

3. Next to each entry, you see an entry displaying the category of access to that entry. Click on this link to see a list of the post's readers by name.

4. If you want to mention someone in your entry, just enter the + or @ sign and start typing the name you want. A list will appear from which you can select the desired contact.

5. One of the key features of Google+ is the ability to publish messages only for certain categories of users, in Google terminology - circles. But you can also publish posts that will only be visible to certain users. To do this, in the Add circles or users field, just start typing the name you want.

6. Published images can be edited. To do this, click on the image, and then in the Actions drop-down menu in the lower right corner, select Change Photo. A panel will appear on the right, containing several settings and filters.

7. Google+ just like Gmail has a built-in chat window. The difference is that here you can safely resize it by simply dragging the borders.

8. If some entry in your feed receives a lot of comments that you are not very interested in, then you can hide it. To do this, you can use the drop-down menu next to each entry. You can also block users here. The same menu next to your posts will allow you to prohibit commenting or further sharing of the post.

9. Gmail is now so tightly integrated with Google+ that you will not only receive messages about all updates, but you can also take notes directly from here.

10. An interesting feature of Google+ is the ability to customize your profile to display different data for different user groups. For example, for employees you can indicate the place of work and education, and for friends you can show your hobbies and interests, but hide the place of work, and for your friends you can slightly correct the marital status …:). You can also see your profile through the eyes of the person you choose. In my opinion, such options for setting up a profile have never been seen in social networks before.
