5 ways to stay motivated when you want to quit
5 ways to stay motivated when you want to quit

1. Learn to look at the situation from the other side

When it seems to you that a person at work is holding you back or complicating your life, try to "switch the arrows." If you leave one place, the same situation will most likely repeat in the new one. After all, you will only make a physical change. Instead, you need to change your attitude.

For example, one of my colleagues was very annoyed by his boss. It seemed to him that she was asking too much of him. I suggested that he do the following exercise: instead of repeating "She annoys me" all the time, say "I annoy her." It helps to look at the situation from both sides.

We often project onto others what we ourselves do not want to admit in ourselves. But you can't dance tango alone. When you realize that the other person also has feelings, you can change your relationship with them and your attitude to work.

2. Look for new approaches

Don't let obstacles stop you - change your approach. An acquaintance recently said that she wants to learn how to ride a bike. She is 30 years old and has problems with her inner ear, which affects her sense of balance. But she didn't give up on her dream, she just bought a tricycle.

If you want to do something, look for ways to get around obstacles.

Don't give up or shift the blame onto others. Try to distance yourself from the situation in order to look at it more objectively. You will most likely find an alternative path.

3. Get rid of self-centeredness

If we think that the whole world revolves around us, then we inevitably get into trouble. We take personally that which has nothing to do with us, and we get offended because of the little things.

Don't worry yourself too much. Remember that it depends on you yourself whether to harbor a grudge against a person or ignore it. In my opinion, hostility and discontent do not bring any benefit, but only hinder moving forward. And they certainly don't increase motivation. By letting them go, I feel like I can live my life.

4. Understand that there is no ideal

Your work or life will never be perfect, you will not be surrounded by perfect people. Don't let that stop you.

Better to start and fail than do nothing and wait for the right opportunity.

It is quite possible that, having implemented your plan, you will be surprised what little thing previously prevented you from budging.

5. Review your habits

All people tend to rely on habits and act automatically. But if the current algorithm of actions does not work, it's time to change it.

Analyze your habits, check which ones are good for you and which ones are not. Do not repeat what does not work, simply because you are used to doing it. Replace what doesn't work with new habits. Perhaps just one change is enough to get you motivated again.

And remember, nothing in itself makes sense: you yourself put it into everything. You bring meaning to your life, work, and relationships with others. Remind yourself often that you can control your reaction, and therefore your situation.
