After installing Vocal, a small microphone icon will appear in the new email window to the right of the send button. With the first click on it, the browser will request access to the microphone for the extension, and after that it will immediately allow you to record a voice message.

In the free version, you can dictate a message up to a minute in length. It will be attached to the message as a normal MP3 audio file, so the recipient does not need to install the same extension or any additional programs to listen to it.
